1. Minimum 3 years experience as
a DBA on Oracle 7.x to 8i platform
on Unix and Windows NT server environments
2. Demonstrated oral, written communication,
and Analytical skills to interpret
technical information and communicate
to customer endusers and company
teams with varying levels of computer
literacy. Present proposals to management
pertaining to review of new database
technology or enhancing existing
technology environment.
3. Strong administration, application
and database tuning, shell scripting
(bourne,csh, and ksh shells)
4. Ability to plan complex and cross
functional database projects throughout
all phases of development life cycle
e.g. migration from dedicated to
OPS and Oracle 8i upgrade for all
production systems
5. Experience in distributed database
environment with full development
life cycle experience: design, develop,
tune, deploy, and maintain a plus
6. Able to design data file layouts
on disk in RAID 0 plus 1 EMC UNIX
environment with RAW devices, Solaris
2.6 or greater preferred.
7. Experience with Partitioned Tables,
Database Links, Oracle Snapshots,
and Oracle 7.3.4
8. Oracle space management skills
e.g. best practices for storage parameter
settings
9. Experience with database monitoring
tools:Oracle for Third Party e.g.
Quest Iwatch, Embarcadero DB Artisan
10. Strong knowledge of SQL tuning
e.g. hints, indexing, execution plan,
parallelization, PLSQL, SQL Plus,
NET8
11. Strong knowledge of Data Modelling
for OLTP environment with normalization,
denormalization techniques.
12.Ability to learn and implement
new database related technology quickly
and to mentor junior to intermediate
DBAs
13. Must be willing to work in a
24x7 environment and be part of an
on-call rotation
14. Oracle Certified Professional
on the latest platform version a
